What personal data we collect and why we collect it

California Consumer Privacy Act Privacy Statement (“CCPA Statement”)

This CCPA Statement is provided pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and applies to California residents and supplements our overall Statement with additional disclosures and rights.

Your rights under CCPA

As of January 1 2020, California law permits residents of California to request certain details about how their personal information is shared with third-parties or affiliated companies for direct marketing purposes.

California residents may also take advantage of the following rights:

  • You may request, up to two times each year, that we disclose to you the categories and specific pieces of personal information that we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which your personal information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal information, the categories of personal information that we disclosed for a business purpose, any categories of personal information about you that we sold, the categories of third-parties with whom we have shared your personal information, and the business or commercial purpose for selling your personal information, if applicable.
  • You may request that we delete any personal information that we have collected from or about you.
  • You may request to opt out of our sale of your personal information to third-parties for their direct marketing purposes.

Philtata Press LLC does not currently share or sell any personal information to third parties, nor does it plan to sell or share any personal information in the future.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Note: Philtata Press LLC does not currently permit site visitors to upload media or comments. 

Contact forms

If you visit our site to submit information, such as mailing list signups, on our pages, we collect and store the name and email address you used to sign up to any of our authors’ newsletter mailing lists. You may unsubscribe from these mailing lists at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of these newsletters.

We do not share or sell any personal information gathered through mailing list signups. 

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Note: Philtata Press LLC does not currently permit site visitors to upload media, publish articles, or comments. This section is included in our privacy policy to allow for future enhancements to the Philtata Press website. 

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Facebook Conversion Tracking Pixel

Philtata Press may from time to time use Facebook Advertising, Facebook Pixel Re-Marketing, and communications. This tool allows Philtata Press LLC to understand and deliver ads and make them more relevant to you. The collected data remains anonymous and Philtata Press LLC cannot see the personal data of any individual user.

However, the collected data is saved and processed by Facebook. Facebook may be able to connect the data with your Facebook account and use the data for their own advertising purposes (in accordance with Facebook’s Data Use Policy found under: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).

Facebook has ultimate control of the  information gathered through Facebook Advertising, Facebook Pixel Re-Marketing, and communications. You can opt-out of Facebook’s use of cookies and Facebook Pixel Re-Marketing through settings on your Facebook Account.

Analytics

Who we share your data with

Philtata Press LLC will not obtain personally-identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. We will not sell, share, or otherwise transfer information to unaffiliated third parties without the approval of the user at the time of collection.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
